First Lady of the Hudson Valley: Eleanor Roosevelt

DSCN7246

We did a mini-unit on Eleanor Roosevelt in March, as part of Women’s History Month, but I’m just getting around to publishing the list now because homeschooling while working full time doesn’t leave a lot of spare time! We chose Eleanor Roosevelt because she was local to the Hudson Valley and we could combine our reading with a trip to Val-Kill and see one of the beautiful places where Eleanor lived and worked. I always like to incorporate a living history element when possible, because it makes the stories come alive and reminds us that these figures were real people, imperfect but impassioned, who wanted to make the world a better place!
